ESTONIA


  


The Republic of Estonia is a Baltic state which was formally part of the Soviet Union. Estonia gained its independence in 1918 after centuries of being part of other states. Then in 1940 it became part of the soviet union and when it collapsed it once again became an independent country, that was in 1991.It joined NATO and the EU in 2004. Estonia adopted the Euro in 2011. The Capital is Tallinn.

The note above is a 2 Kroon note from 1992. The rather stern man on the front of the note is Karl Ernst von Baer, Estonian Biologist , one of the founders of embryology. the reverse is the Tartu University.
