British Honduras, a British colony in central America finally became independent in 1981 and changed its name to Belize (I've yet to get a note from Belize, something i will have to rectify soon). Belize started to issue notes in their own name from 1974 but arguments between Britain and Guatemala delayed the actual date of independence.
the note here is a one Dollar from 1970 and the date is preceded by the word Belize
