British West Africa was a grouping of west African colonies ; Gambia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and gold coast ( now Ghana ). the notes were issued by the currency board from 1907 until 1962. All the former colonies are now independent countries and part of the British commonwealth of nations.
The Note above is from the 1928 issue, the earlier issue was similar but has the numeral 10 in both circles.
