LOVELY DESIGNS ON A 200 RIAL NOTES

Yellow seems to be the in colour at the moment. This note is the Yemeni 200 Rial note from 1439 in the Islamic calendar or 2017/18 in the Gregorian calendar . The front has the fortress at Zabid and the reverse has a landscape in the Al Mahrah Governorate. I like the designs on the edges which meet up if you make the note into a tube.

THE FINAL THREE NOTES FROM THE IRANIAN SET

So this time we have 3 notes from the Islamic Republic of Iran. They are the 5000, 10,000 , and 20,000 Rial notes.

The first two images are the 5000 Rial note which has the Ayatollah Khomeini on the front and pottery from Zabol on the reverse.  The date of this note is 2013 and it is from the 3 series of that note.

Images 3 and 4 are the 10,000 rial note and has the Ayatollah Khomeini on the from but on the left hand side of the note - all the other notes I have , have him on the right side. The Back has the tomb of the Persian poet Hafez, in Shiraz . This note is from 2017.

And finally the 20,000 Rial note, with the Ayatollah on the front and on the back is the windcatchers of Abarkooh. This note is from 2014.

All 3 notes have the Ayatollah as the watermark but in the 10,000 Rial note Ayatollah Khomeini is looking down and wearing glasses as if he was reading.

THE SECOND IF THE IRANIAN NOTE SET

These two notes are the 1000 and 2000 rial notes from the Islamic Republic of Iran. The first two images are the 1000 rial note with Ayatollah Khomeini on the front and the dome on the rock, Jerusalem on the back. The issue dates are between 1992 and 2019 but the have the no 35 signature combination.

The 2000 Rial note has the Ayatollah on the front and the back has the Kaaba , which is the cube at the centre of the mosque in Mecca. The dates above apply to this note and it has the same signature combination too.

Ayatollah Khomeini is the watermark on both.

Inside the Kaaba

THE FIRST OF A SET OF IRANIAN NOTES

O
These notes above are the 200 and 500 rial notes from the Islamic Republic of Iran. The top two images are the obverse (front) and reverse (back) of the 200 Rial  note. The front has the Jame mosque of Yazd and the back has farmers. The actual date is a bit more complicated. We know that it’s from the issue period of between 1981-2005 and has the signature no 28 (from the standard catalog of world paper money).

The 500 Rial note is the bottom two images with the front having the image of a prayer gathering and the Feyziyed madressa  Religious school in Qom at the bottom left. The back has the entrance gates to Tehran university. Again it doesn’t have a date so it’s from the 2003-2009 issue with the signature combination 33

Both notes have Ayatollah khomeini as the watermark

A BLUE NOTE FROM YEMEN

The scans of this note don't really portray the blue in the note, it really stands out and thats what attracted me to this note. It is a 10 Rial note from the Yemen Arab Republic and was issued in 1992 after reunification of the two Yemeni republics. The front has the Saleh Mosque and the reverse has the Ma'rib dam on it.

YEMEN

The Republic of Yemen is a country in the south east of the Arabian peninsula. Its capital city is Sana'a . In 1918 the Ottoman empire pulled out of the north of the country and North Yemen became independent and in 1968 after an eight year civil war between the royalists and the republicans, the repubicans won and formed the north into the Yemen Arab Republic. At around the same time the Aden Emergency ended British rule in what was Aden and South Arabia which were joined together under a socialist government as the Peoples Democratic Republic of Yemen. In 1990, the two governments reached an agreement on joint governing and in May of that year the countries merged into the Republic of Yemen. Yemen is thought to be one of the oldest centres of civilisation in the middle east.

Monetary units:
1 rial = 40 Buqshas                  - north Yemen/ Arab republic
1 dinar = 1000 fils up to 1996   - south Yemen/ democratic republic

1 rial = 100 fils   from 1996      - Republic of Yemen

The first note above is the 1990 20 Rial note from the Yemen Arab Republic with a statue of cupid on  the front and a dhow with Sana'a in the background on the reverse or so the reference books say, however sana'a is inland and doesn't have a harbour so this i think may be the Aden Harbour (see below)
The next one above is again, from the Arab republic. this is a one Rial note from 1983 with the Baqiliyah Mosque on the front and coffee plants on the reverse.

This note above, is the 1 Dinar note from democratic republic of Yemen (south Yemen) . It is the 1965 issue with a dhow and Aden harbour in the background on the front and the reverse has a palm tree and a cotton tree branch.

The Sultanate of Oman, formerly known as the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman, is a country in the Arabian peninsula. Its capital city is Muscat.

Monetary unit:
1 Real Omani   = 1000 Baisa
1 Real Saidi = 1000 Baisa

The Notes above are the 200 and 100 Baisa notes from the 1987 - 94 issue. The purple 200 Baisa note has Sultan Qaboos bin Sa'id on the front and the fort at Rustaq on the reverse. The 100 Baisa note has the Sultan on the front again but the reverse is the Port of Sultan Qaboos .

These notes are from the 1995 issue (AH1416) and are the 200 and 100 Baisa notes. The 200 Baisa note has the Sultan and Salalah airport on the front and the marine sciences and fisheries building on the reverse. the 100 Baisa note again has the Sultan and the irrigation system on the front (which is on the UNESCO world heritage list) and on the reverse we have a Verreaux's Eagle and a white Oryx. (white Oryx are thought to have inspiration for the Unicorn legend)

IRAN

The Islamic republic of Iran has its capital city of Tehran. Until 1935 it was known as Persia and became an Islamic republic in 1979 after a revolution exiled the Shah ( the monarch ) setting up a religious government with Ayatolllah Khomeini as the Supreme leader. For most of the 1980's Iran and Iraq fought a bloody war, US and Iranian relations have been strained since that time.

Monetary Units:
1 Shahi = 50 dinars    )
1 qiran = 20 shahis     ) (AH 1241 - AH 1344; SH 1204 - SH 1309; 1825 - 1931)
1 Toman = 20 qirans  )

1 Shahi = 5 Dinars                  )
1 rial = 20 Shahi = 100 dinars   )SH 1310 (1932) onward
1 Toman = 10 rials                  )

Tomans are not used in modern currency but people often refer to it in daily life.

The note above is the 100 Rials note from 198  with Ayatollah Modarres on the front and the parliament building on the reverse. this one has a watermark of Ayatollah Khomeini.
