5 NAKFA NOTE FROM ERITREA

 

This is a 5 Nakfa note issued in 1997, from Eritrea. this one adds to the two in the collection already. i have the 1 and the 10 Nakfa notes so  the 5 Nakfa make a run of 3. the 5 Nakfa has a similar design but instead of the 3 females on the 1 and 10 notes, this has 3 males on the front and a Jacaranda tree on the reverse

SOMALIAN 1000 SHILIN

This is the 1000 shilin note from Somalia, issued in 1996. it has women weaving baskets on the front and the port of mogadishu on the reverse.

TWO NOTES FROM GUINEA

 These two notes are from Guinea. although they have the 1st march 1960 on the notes, they were actually issued in 2006 and 2015 respectively. the 1000franc note has a girl on the front and ore mining on the back. the 100 franc note has a woman on the front and banana harvesting on the back.

GREEN AND BLUE NOTES FROM TANZANIA

 Two notes from Tanzania here the 500 and the 1000 shillings notes. Both are from the 2010 issue. the green 500 shillings note has sheik Abeid Amani karume, the first president of Zanzibar, on the front and central Hall of the Dar es Salaam university on the reverse. whereas the blue 1000 shilling note has julius kambarage Nyerere on the front and the State house on the reverse.

SINGLE FIGURE BANKNOTES FROM ZIMBABWE

These 2 notes were issued in 2019, from the reserve bank of Zimbabwe. both notes have the chiremba, balancing rock formation on the front with the 2 dollar having the parliament building and a tourch on the reverse. the 5 dollar note has Giraffs on the reverse.

SOLES DE ORO FROM PERU

This is the 5000 soles de oro  from Peru and issued in 1985. Peru has gone through a few different revaluations over the last couple of decades.. The front has Fransisco Bolognesi with his rather fetching moustache and goatee.  he is a peruvian military general and something of an army hero. The reverse has miners working in a mine.

THE NATIONAL POET OF URUGUAY

 

This is the Uruguayan 20 pesos note issued in 2015. The front has Juan zorrilla de san martin, who is considered the national poet of Uruguay. The reverse has one of his poems “la legendary patria” ( the fatherland legend).

BAANKA SOMALILAND

This is a 1000 shilling note from Somaliland and it was issued in 2006. Somaliland is an unrecognised state which internationally is considered to be part of Somalia. The front has a lion and an African woman, whereas the reverse has a standing lion and a camel to the right.

 The 5 dollars note is from the Solomon Islands. It a polymer note issued in 2019 and has coral reefs on the front and native fishermen on the reverse.

This note is a 5 Riyal note from Qatar. It is from the 4^th series (2015) and has the national museum and camels and oryxes on the reverse.

Here we have a 20 cordobas note from Nicaragua. It has a native hut from costa caribe on the front and a drawing of the Palo de Mayo dance on the reverse. It was issued in 2007.

AN ESTONIAN CHESS MASTER

This is the 5 krooni note from Estonia, issued in 1994. It has Paul Keres, an Estonian chess player, on the front and Narva castle and the Ivangorod fortress on the reverse. the castle being in Estonia and the fortress being in Russia !!

The bank of Eritrea 10 nafta note is from 2012 and has a triptych of Eritrean girls on the front and the Eritrean railway on the reverse. Its not often you get females on notes and this one has 3 but its a pity we dont know who they are

This note is the 1 dollar note from the Bahamas and was issued in 2008. It features Lynden Pindling, the father of the nation on the front and the marching band of the Bahamian police on the reverse.

this is the 100 peso note from Mexico. it was issued in 1982. the front has Venustiano Carrnza, a leader of the mexican revolution, with a stone figure on the reverse.

500 CEDIS FROM GHANA

Here is a colourful note from Ghana. Its the 500 cedis issued in 1986. It has the coat of arms (or fist) on the front and has Cacao trees, pods annd a Ghanaian minor on the reverse.

the words "gye Nyame" on the front of the note is the name of the Akan god although most Akans identify with being christian .

Before independence Ghana was called the "Gold coast". On 6 March 1957 at 12 midnight, the Gold Coast, Ashanti, the Northern Territories and British Togoland were unified as one single independent dominion within the British Commonwealth under the name Ghana.

This note above is the 10 Livre note issued in 1986 by the Lebanon. the front has athe ruins of Anjar and the reverse has these gigantic rocks from just outside Beruit .
