CYPRUS





The Republic of Cyprus is an island in the Mediterranean sea with the capital city as Nicosia. formerly a British colony it became independent in 1960. by 1963 the country has split into the Greek Cyprus and the Turkish Cyprus, but only the Greek side is recognised . the entire island entered the EU in may 2004.
monetary units
1 Pound = 1000 mils ( 1963 - 1983)
1 pound =  100 cents (1983 - 2007)
1 euro    =  100 cents (2008 - onward

 The Notes above are a 1 pound note from 1998 with a cypriot girl on the front and crafts on the back. also the 50 Cent note from 1984 with a woman seated at the front and the yermasoyia Dam on the reverse.
