ECUADOR



The Republic of Ecuador is a country on the west coast of south America, between Colombia and Peru. Its capital city is Quito.In 1533 the Spanish took the area from the Incas and made Quito the seat of government for the whole area New Granada (now Colombia) , Venezuela, and Quito. In 1822 the 3 territories formed an area called Grand Colombia, then in 1830 Quito left and changed its name to the republic of Equator (Ecuador).

The note above is a 1000 sucres from 1986, on the front is a picture of Ruminahui, an inca warrior, depicted in red. the reverse has a coat of arms.
