The Peoples Democratic Republic of Algeria is a north African country between Morocco and Tunisia. Formerly a French dependent territory, Algerians fought a bloody war to gain independence in 1962. there is a classic film about the struggle called the battle of Algiers . In 1964 the denominations changed from Francs to Dinars.
The note above is a 5 Franc note from 1942. I don't know much more about this note but will update as soon as I find out anything. ( or you can leave a comment if you can help)
