PORTUGUESE INDIA



Portuguese India was the colonies of Portugal in modern day India from 1505 to 1961. its capital was Panji (then called Nova Goa) which is the capital of the modern Indian state of Goa.

1 Rupia = 16 Tangas = 960 Reis up to 1958

The Note here is the Cancelled (hence the two big puch holes) 50 Rupia note from 1945 before he has his face removed (from the note) the picture was of Alfonso de Alburquerque on the front and the woman watching ships through the ages on the back.


Today, Goa is known more for it beaches, spices, hippies and trance music !!!!!
