MOROCCO

The Kingdom of Morocco was formed when it gained independence from France in 1956, previously it had been a French protectorate since the treaty of Fez in 1912. Before 1912, both France and Spain had "zones of interest " in Morocco. The capital is Rabat.

monetary units:
1 franc = 100 centimes
1 dirham = 100 francs   (1921-1974)
1 Dirham = 100 centimes (1974 - onwards)

The notes above, in various conditions, and are from the 1970 - 1390 AH issue all have pictures of King Hassan II but have different pictures on the reverse. The 5 Dirhams has a processing plant on the reverse, whereas the 10 Dirhams has a woman processing oranges, and the 50 Dirhams has a Moroccan dam (possibly Bin El Ouidane) on the reverse.

This tiny (42mm x 32mm) 50 centime note is from 1944 emergency issue and is made of thin cardboard  and has a desert fort on the reverse.
