The Republic of Paraguay, is a landlocked country in south America, with a capital city of Asuncion. Paraguay gained independence from Spain in 1811 and then was ruled by a long succession of dictators up until 1989.

This note is the 2005 1000 Guarani note the front has a portrait of Francisco Solano Lopez, the 2nd president of Paraguay. the reverse has the National Pantheon of the Heros in the capital city.
