THAILAND

The Kingdom of Thailand is an Asian country with a capital city of Bangkok. The country was known as Siam up until 1939. Thailand (Siam) is the only South East Asian country not to be colonised by the various European empires but it did act as a buffer state between French Indochina and the  British Empire. 1932 saw a bloodless revolution by the Khana Ratsadon which gave Thailand its first contitution. 1942 saw Thailand joining Japan in the Second World War and declaring war on both the USA and Britain. After the war, Thailand became an ally of the USA. Thailand is a constitutional Monarchy and has a hereditary King.
