TANNU TUVA

The Peoples Republic of Tannu Tuva was a partially recognised independent state between 1921 and 1944. Its capital was Kyzyl. It is now the Tuvan Republic within the Russian Federation.

Monetary Units:

1 Lan (russian ruble) = 100 Kopek up to 1934
1 tuvan aksa = 100 kepejek  1934-1944
1 Ruble (USSR) = 100 Kopek 1944 onwards

The Notes above are from the 1924 issue where they used obsolete Russian banknotes and overprinted them on the reverse. The notes are the 3, 5, and 10 Lan notes. The original Russian notes are from 1909 (10R) , 1909 (5R) and 1905(3R). They are all quite large notes.

This note is the 1 Lan note printed on the 1898, 1 Ruble note from imperial Russia.

Below is the Tuvan Flag from this period.
