SWAZILAND




The Kingdom of Swaziland is a landlocked country in southern Africa. It has a legislative capital of Lobamba and an administrative capital of Mbabane. In 1881 britain signed a convention recognising Swaziland's independence, but then became a British protectorate in 1902. Swaziland elected a legislative council in 1964 and gained full independence in 1967. over 60% of the population live on less than the equivalent of US$1.25 per day. the country also has one of the highest HIV infection rates with over 50% of adults in their 20's infected. Swaziland has the 7th worst (191 out of 198 countries) life expectancy at 47.36 years.
