JORDAN
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a constitutional monarchy with its capital city as Amman. After the collapse of the Ottoman empire after WWI, Britain gained the mandate over much of the middle east and split a semi autonomous region from Palestine called Transjordan in the 1920's and the region gained independence in 1946. In 1950 it changed its name to Jordan. In 1967 a war with Israel led to the loss of the west bank which Jordan conceded in 1988.In 2003 Jordan backed the western invasion of Iraq and absorbed many refugees from that conflict, most of which are still in the country.
