BRITISH OCCUPATION OF CYPRUS
If the previous note was large then this one is tiny 6cm x 4cm ( 2 3/8 in x 1 5/8 in ). here we have a 3 piastre note with George VI on the front . Cyprus became a crown colony of Britain in 1925 and they fought along side the British in WWII. The Greek Cypriots wanted independence from Britain at the end of the war whereas the Turkish Cypriot wanted British rule to continue. The Bitish Occupation would continue until 1960.
My friend has a holiday home in Kyrenia (Girne in Turkish ) and my friend Hammam goes to the American university there, It looks an amazing place but very hot !!.
