PERU



The Republic of Peru is a country in South America with a capital city of Lima. in 1542, the Spanish declared the area that was the Inca Empire as Peru, named after the local ruler Biru. Simon Bolivar  and Jose De San Martin led Peru to independence in the early 19th century.

monetary units:

1 Sol = 1 sol de oro = 100 centavos (1879 - 1985)
1 Inti = 1000 Sol de Oro (1986 - 1991)
1 nuevo Sol = 100 centimes = 1million Intis 1991 onwards

The note above is the 1000 Soles de oro note from 1970 with portraits of General Bolognesi and Miguel Grau on the front and Machu Picchu on the reverse.





The first note above is the 1000 Inti note from 1988 featuring the 3 time president of Peru , Andres Avelino Caceres and on the reverse is Chan Chan, an archiological site of the biggest pre-colombian city in south america. the 100 Inti note has Ramon Castilla, a 4 times president of Peru, on the front. On the reverse is a cotton spinning mill.
