Barbados is an independent state within the British commonwealth. Barbados gained independence in 1966.
The two notes above are the five Dollar ($5) and two Dollar ($2). the $5 is from 1975 and has a portrait of Sir F Worrell , The first black captain of the West Indies cricket Team. The $2 is from 1980 and the portrait here is of J R Bovell, a scientist. the reverse of both notes depicts the Trafalgar square in Bridgetown, the capital.
