TWO MODERN NOTES FROM BURUNDI

These are a couple of notes from the Republic of Burundi. Both notes . both notes are from the 2015 issue. The top one is the 1000 franc note , with cattle , a bird and a fish on the front. the reverse has the outline of Burundi over  banana trees.

The second note is the 500 franc note featuring a crocodile, fish, coffee branch and the Burundian flag on the front , with the outline of Burundi over a boat on  lake Tanganyika.

MORANT BAY REBELLION REMEMBERED WITH THIS NOTE

This is the Jamaican 2 dollar note from 1992.. It has Paul Bogle and the red billed streamertail on the front and on the reverse there is a group of people with the motto "out of many, one people"

This is the 1997, 500 escudo note from Portugal. It features the historian, João de Barros on the front and a representation of the Portuguese discoveries on the reverse.

João de Barros is known for his history of the Portuguese in Asia and Africa.

This is the 5 Lei note from Romania issued in 2005. it has George Enescu, the Romanian musician and composer on the fromt and the Romanian Athenaeum on the back.

ALLIED MILITARY CURRENCY IN GERMANY AT THE END OF WWII

This note , like in the previous post , is quite small and is the 1 mark note from Germany issued as the allied military currency in the 1944.

FRENCH OCCUPATION OR LIBERATION NOTE ?

This note looks huge from the scan but it is really quite small - 3' x  2 5/8 in old money or 79mm x 68mm . This is a french note from 1944, the year the Nazi occupation of France ended. 

PRE INDEPENDENCE NOTE FROM MOZAMBIQUE

This is the 20 Centavos note. Its from Mozambique and was issued in 1933. Mozambique was a Portuguese colony from 1505 until 1975 when it became an independent country. In 1975 FRELIMO group,  who fought for independence, set up a Marxist government but within two years it fell into civil war with the anti-communist RENAMO which lasted until 1992.

PORTUGAL 50 ESCUDOS NOTE

This is the 1968 Portuguese 50 escudos note . the front has Infante dona maria on the front and the city of Sintra as it was in 1507 on the reverse.

Infante  is the title given to the son or daughter of the king or queen of Portugal and Spain with the exception of the heir apparent. Infanta is sometmes used for the spouse of an infante.

BANGLADESHI 10 TAKA NOTE

this is the 1972 issue of the Bangladeshi 10 taka note featuring Mujibur Rahman, the first president of Bangladesh on the front along with a map of Bangladesh at the left side the reverse has a geometric design in blue and green.

INDONESIAN NOTE WITH EARLY WOMANS RIGHTS ACTIVIST ON THE FRONT

This is a great note from Indonesia its the 10000 rupiah note from 1985. It  has R A Kartini, a womens' right activist and advocate of education for girls, and Prambanan Temple  complex on the front and a female graduate on the back.

THE REAL KING'S SPEECH

This note is a one dollar note from the Hong Kong issue of 1949, it features King George VI on the front with bilingual writing on both sides.

George VI (sixth) was the inspiration for the film "The King's Speech".

Here we have a 1954 five peseta note from spain featuring King Alphonso X on the front and the building of the  Biblioteca National in madrid

POLYMER 10000 LEI NOTE FROM ROMANIA

Here we have a 10000 Lei note from 2000. the front has Nicolae Ionga , a romanian politician, with the Gentian flower in the centre. The reverse has the Curtea de arges monastery and the wallachian arms of Prince Brancoveanu on the lower left of the note.

THE AUSTRALIAN 5 DOLLAR NOTE

This is a 5 dollar note from 1995. The front has QE 2 and the gum tree or eucalyptus on the left and in the bottom right ckear window. On the reverse is two parliament buildings (old and new) in Canberra.

this note above, is the 20 peso oro note from 1992 with the Alter de la Patria in the centre and the Puerta del conde on the reverse. this note is the commemorative issue marking the 500 th anniversary of Christopher Columbus making land in central america / caribbean islands

A SET OF VENEZUELAN NOTES FROM THE HYPERINFLATION ERA

The notes below are a set of Venezuelan notes from 2018 during their hyperinflation where the rate was at an all time high in January 2019 running at 2.688 million percent !!

The above note is the 2 bolivares. the notes have dual aspects in as much as the front is in portrait mode where as the reverse is in landscape. This is true of all the set. the front has Josefa Camejo, a heroine of the war of independence . the reverse has the yellow shouldered parrot and the Venezuelan coat of arms 

This note is the 5 bolivares. This note has a front featuring Jose Felix Ribas, a hero of the war of independence and was married to Simon Bolivar's aunt. on the reverse is the Sapito Rayado, or the Veragua stub-foot toad, with the Henry Pittier national ark in the background

This note is the 10 bolivares with Rafael Urdaneta  on the front  and the giant anteater on the reverse with the  Clenaga de Juan Manuel national park in the background.

:This is the 20 bolivares note with Simon Rodreguez on the front and the iconic Jaguar and the Waraira repano national park behind. 

This is the 50 bolivares note. the front has Antonio Jose de Sucre, a Venezuelan from a family stretching back to Flanders who, after fighting in the war of independence, went on to be the 2nd president of  Bolivia and then the 4th president of Peru !!  On the reverse there is an ocelot and the Peninsula de Paria national park

This is the 100 bolivares note with General  Ezequiel Zamora, a soldier in the federalist war and the reverse  has the brown spider monkey and the Guatopo national park

This one is the 200 bolivares note with  Francisco De Miranda on the front and the military macaw on the reverse along with the waraire repano national park 

and finally, the 500 bolivares completes the set. it has Simon Bolivar on the front and the Venezuelan troupial, the national bird of venezuela on the reverse and the macarao national park in the background

all these gentlemen above all sport various hirsute features - haircuts , side burns or moustaches .- but at least there is one woman amongst them
