PAKISTAN








The Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is a country in Asia with over 180 million people living there, making it the 6th most populated country in the world. The modern state of Pakistan was established in 1946 after the British colonial rule ended in what was then British India. Originally Pakistan was the 4 western provinces and West Bengal - which later became Bangladesh. there is still disputes over the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

1 Rupee = 16 Annas up to 1961
1 Rupee = 100 Paisa 1961 onward

The 4 notes above are all from the 1981-82 issue by the state bank. The 100 Rupees note has Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, on the front, as all these notes have. On the reverse the 100 rupee note has the Islamic College at Peshawar . The 50 Rupees note has the front gate of the Fort at Lahore. the 10 rupees note has the archaeological site at Moenjo-daro. The 5 Rupees note has the Khajak Railway tunnel on the reverse. All of them have Mr. Jinnah as the watermark.








The 2 Rupee note above is from the State Bank of Pakistan's 1985 - 99 issue, has the Crescent moon and star - the coat of arms for Pakistan- on the fron and the Mosque at Badshahi on the reverse.

The 1 rupee note is by the Government of Pakistan , issued from 1983 onwards, with the coat of arms on the front and the tomb of Allama Mohammad Iqbal, a poet who inspitred the pakistan movement, on the reverse
